Philomena (Phil) Billington is a recognised educator, leader and facilitator across Australia, with over forty years’ experience in both government and Catholic education sectors in four states and five dioceses. She has been a primary school teacher in remote, rural and city locations, and has held responsibility as a Deputy Principal and a Principal within those settings.
In the mid-1990s Phil was appointed Coordinator of Religious Education for the Canberra-Goulburn Archdiocese. After serving in that Archdiocese for just under ten years, Phil then accepted appointment to leadership in Catholic Education in the Diocese of Sandhurst, firstly as Deputy Director, and later as Director.
At the end of 2014, Phil retired as Director and now provides consultancy services across a range of areas to those involved in leadership of Catholic Education across the nation, especially in rural dioceses. She is passionate about and committed to providing pro bono support to young people living with disability, encouraging growth towards a more inclusive Church and society, and parish and diocesan pastoral development.
