EREA congratulates those recently appointed to senior positions and wishes them well as they embark upon the next exciting phase of their professional journey.
It is with much pleasure that I announce that Mr Ivan Mahoney has been appointed to the position of Network Principal of the Youth+ Eastern Flexi Schools Network commencing in 2020. This network will have schools in Wollongong, St Marys, and Newcastle in its first year and arises from the split in the South East Network into East (NSW schools) and South (Victoria and Tasmania).
During the first three terms of 2017 Ivan was Acting Network Principal of the South East Network while Chloe Hand was on maternity leave. In 2018 Ivan was appointed Network Co-Principal of the South East Network as the network prepared to transition into two networks, South and East. His position gave him specific responsibility for the NSW schools in the South East Network.
Ivan is an accomplished teacher with a rich experience in leadership in flexible learning and particularly in Youth+. He was the inaugural Head of Campus of the St Marys Flexible Learning Centre in NSW before moving to be Campus Principal of the St Joseph's Flexible Learning Centre in North Melbourne, our biggest FLC with over 300 people.
Ivan has a Bachelor of Arts, a Master of Arts in Youth and Community Studies and Graduate Diplomas in Secondary Education, Science and Human Services Management. He has worked in Australia and Ireland in service areas within crisis management, homelessness, youth and community development, youth residential provision and street outreach.
On behalf of all members of the Edmund Rice Education Australia community, I warmly congratulate Ivan on this significant appointment.
