I never imagined that I would be confronted with my own spirituality and race in the way I have been. To the point I really had to delve into a lot of things that has been happening around me. Never once in my interaction with others did I feel the need to really engage with my historical past as a South African or my own upbringing. Mostly, I was just a person, trying to make a difference in the areas I moved in like my family, community and Edmund Rice Network. Little did I know that this trip would have such an emotional yet stimulating and eye opening effect. (Shari-Ann Kennedy, 2015 Scholarship Recipient)
We acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples of Australia as the traditional owners and custodians of the land of our schools. We are inspired and nurtured by their wisdom, spirituality and experience. We commit ourselves to actively
work alongside them for reconciliation and justice. We pay our respects to the Elders; past, present and future. As we take our next step we remember the first footsteps taken on this sacred land.
