ABOUT THE COLLEGE:

St Joseph’s Nudgee College is a Catholic day and boarding school in the Edmund Rice tradition for boys in Years 5 to 12. Located on spacious grounds in Boondall, the College has a current enrolment of over 1,700 students, including 300 Boarders, supported by over 450 teachers and support staff.  The College caters for students from the local Brisbane area, regional and remote Queensland, interstate and overseas, and upholds the values of Edmund Rice Education Australia (EREA) in providing quality Catholic education to students.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Executive Director of Edmund Rice Education Australia (EREA) is seeking to appoint an accomplished professional in the role of Dean of Operations. The Dean of Operations is a key member of the College Leadership Team and is responsible for the leadership and management of the College’s Finance and Business strategic direction, operations and reporting functions. This position provides a key advisory role in the financial management of the College in ensuring the College is achieving its financial and operational requirements against key performance indicators for a leading school in the 21st century. The Dean of Operations is the overall leader of the team that looks after all non-educational functions in the College and provides key linkage between educational vision and the business functions of the College.

The Dean of Operations will create new and improve existing business to maximise the facilities and assets of the College. This role is committed to building the College community through development and administration of the College’s corporate infrastructure and activities as described in the College’s Strategic Plan. This position is responsible for specific leadership and management of the following College teams: Finance, Property & Services, and Business Units (Bingo, Nudgee Swim Club, Tuckshop and Locker Room).

It is the Dean of Operations’ role to ensure that all commercial activities support the College and improve the educational outcomes and lives of their students. The Dean of Operations has a number of  immediate Direct Reports, each with a diverse and extensive portfolio of responsibilities, and reports directly to the Principal.

ABOUT YOU:

Applications are encouraged from individuals with educational experience as well as commercial professionals who come from outside the education sector.

 

To succeed in the role you will have:

*Tertiary qualifications in Accounting/ Business/ Commerce or related field (CA or CPA preferred)

*Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders in an energetic and vibrant environment

*Demonstrated experience leading successful teams

*Experience in responsibility for the financial management of a medium-sized business.

*A commitment to ongoing professional development

*The ability to think strategically in contributing to the future development of the College

*A proven ability to work in a collaborative environment as a member of a Leadership team and to manage a cohesive support team

*Knowledge of, and experience in, day-to-day accounting procedures, financial management and strategic development in the not-for-profit setting

*Experience with tender development and assessment

*The ability to be able to demonstrate an understanding of the charism of Blessed Edmund Rice as articulated in the Charter for Catholic Schools in the Edmund Rice Tradition.
