EREA National Safeguarding Conference
On Monday 23 August 2021 EREA held the Inaugural National Safeguarding Conference online. Around 128 delegates were in attendance. Despite the limitations of the online environment and a full program there were opportunities for engagement with those from other schools through breakout rooms and participating in Q&As after each presentation. There was an excellent line up of presenters including:
- Setting the Context: The EREA Child Safeguarding Standards Framework.
Deborah de Fina from CompliSpace and Damian Chase, Deputy Principal at St Patrick’s College, Strathfield
- Engaging Student Voice and Participation.
Skye Rose, Practice Leader, Moores Legal
- Keeping Children and Young People Safe on Social Media.
Kirra Pendergast, CEO of Safe on Social Media
- Harmful Sexual Behaviour among Children and Young People.
Ian Nussey, Psychologist
The Program was supported by Acknowledgement of Country and Reflection by Ray Paxton National Director Liberating Education, a Formal Welcome by Dr Craig Wattam, Executive Director, Final Reflections by Dr Adam Taylor and facilitated by Catherine Greenley and Michael Horsley. Responses by delegates have been very positive. The EREA National Safeguarding Conference will be an annual event in the EREA calendar to be held in August each year.
