Edmund Rice Education Australia (EREA) is a National Not-for-Profit Organisation, responsible for the governance and administration of 55 Catholic schools in the Edmund Rice tradition across Australia.
Our schools include mainstream education, flexible learning centres for disenfranchised young people, and special schools, primary, secondary and early learning centres, boys’ education and co-education, day and boarding schools, and metro and regional schools, which are located across every state and territory in Australia.
The successful candidate will be part of a supportive team at the EREA National Office and undertake rewarding work which positively impacts the education of over 39,000 young people.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
This newly developed role will promote a culture of child safety through the development of practical and legislatively compliant child safe policies and procedures and training. This role will partner with schools to monitor and support the implementation of the EREA Child Safeguarding policy suite, and to support a healthy school culture of child safeguarding.
The location for this role is flexible. As a national entity, we have offices located in Richmond, VIC and Boondall, QLD. The successful applicant can be based at either of our offices in Melbourne or Brisbane, or at one of our schools in NSW. Flexible work arrangements will be in line with the EREA Flexible Work Arrangements Policy.
Travel is an essential component of the role. Regular travel will be required to our schools across Australia to build relationships with key stakeholders and to oversee compliance at the school level.
To succeed in the role you will have:
*Degree level qualification (or professional equivalent) and relevant training in safeguarding/child protection;
*Strong understanding of child protection requirements, reportable conduct, related legislation and the ministerial audit requirements for child safety and agencies concerning the welfare and protection of children;
*Capacity to develop and deliver child safeguarding training to school personnel, Advisory Councils, EREA Board and others as required;
*Excellent analytical skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to confidently deliver a solution-focused approach in difficult situations;
*Attention to detail and meticulous record keeping ensuring accuracy and currency of records, and with high regard to confidentiality;
*Ability to readily build rapport, gain professional credibility and maintain sound working relationships with a broad range of people, and to influence outcomes for a strong culture of child safety;
*Ability to develop and maintain effective and respectful relationships with all stakeholders;
*Understanding of and a commitment to the ethos, values, and mission of Catholic Education in the Edmund Rice tradition;
*Risk management and compliance qualifications and/or experience;
*High level of computer literacy and database management skills.
