National Child Protection Week 4 – 10 September 2022
National Child Protection Week 2022 will continue to embrace the overarching message that ‘Every child, in every community, needs a fair go’.
In particular, this year NAPCAN will focus on and pay particular attention to children growing up safe and supported.
Children and young people thrive when they grow up safe, connected and supported in their family, community and culture.
EREA is committed to the safety and protection of all children and young people, and we believe that they have the right to grow up in environments that support them according to their needs, now and into the future.
EREA acknowledges that best practice in child safety and encouraging a culture of shared responsibility in building a safe community for all. As such, our approach is to empower each EREA school to take appropriate responsibility for its own operations and for engendering a culture of shared responsibility for the safety and protection of children and young people
We can stop child abuse and neglect – and reduce its impact – by working together to make sure every child in every community has a fair go.

Safeguarding Sunday
The Catholic Church in Australia marks Safeguarding Sunday (formerly Child Protection Sunday) on the second Sunday of September — at the conclusion of National Child Protection Week. Safeguarding Sunday seeks to acknowledge the immense damage caused by the sexual abuse of children and adults at risk, including by priests, religious and lay people within Catholic contexts. It makes a commitment to practices and protocols that create and maintain safe environments for all people. It invites people to pray for those harmed by abuse directly and indirectly.
Resources, including for liturgical celebrations, are created to support local recognition. Please find below resources for Safeguarding Sunday 2022.
These resources build off the theme for National Child Protection Week 2022 — Safe and Supported.
