EREA Teaching and Learning Conference Creates Alternative Future
Recently almost 200 senior educators from across EREA, Associate and South African schools gathered in Sydney for the EREA Liberating Education Teaching and Learning Conference – “Creating Alternative Futures”. The conference was held on the traditional lands of the Gadigal people of the Eora nation.

Highlights included:

• Communal prayer and ritual that animated our Catholic tradition and Indigenous heritage
• Active student participation and voice from young people from St Pius X, St Edwards, St Edmunds, Waverley, St Patricks and CBHS Lewisham
• A moving and powerful musical and dance presentation from St James College students focusing on inclusivity 
• Welcome from Dr Wayne Tinsey, and his affirmation that a liberating education is at the heart of our mission
• Introducing Teaching and Learning as Gospel-centered Engagement and the evolution of our understanding of Liberating Education - with Ray Paxton 
• Regional Gatherings exploring Futures Thinking and building the capacity to create alternative and preferred futures - with Professor Sohail Inayatullah
• Variety of workshops and presentations focusing on contemporary and future issues impacting on teaching and learning
• Hearing the stories of Liberating Education globally and the worldwide movement of promoting Girls education - with the Edmund Rice Foundation Australia
• Networking between Deputy Principals, Leaders of Learning and Identity and Mission Leaders
