EREA Flexible Schools Ltd – Subsidiary Board

EREA is partnering with Sheldon Harris for these appointments.

ABOUT EDMUND RICE EDUCATION AUSTRALIA (EREA):

Edmund Rice Education Australia (EREA) provides a quality and values-based education through its system of 55 Catholic schools across every state and territory in Australia.

EREA runs 31 mainstream schools, 22 flexible learning centres for students who benefit from an alternative method of learning and 2 special schools. EREA educates more than 40,000 students and employs more than 4500 people.

EREA’s governance structure has been reviewed and contemporised through a focussed and ongoing regeneration process. As part of the regeneration a newly incorporated entity has been established. The new (EREA Ltd) Board will operate with five subsidiaries to enable a stronger line of sight to all schools. The inaugural Chair and Board (EREA Ltd) have been appointed and will be fully operational in 2023. EREA Ltd now seeks to appoint Board Directors (voluntary) for its Subsidiary Boards – one of which is EREA Flexible Schools Ltd.

EREA FLEXIBLE SCHOOLS LTD – SUBSIDIARY BOARD:

EREA educates over 2,200 young people in 22 Flexible Learning Schools (12 based in Queensland and 10 others across Australia). Flexi Schools serve young people who experience complex educational, social or psychological situations which demand unique responses.

Additionally, the Flexible Schools entity governs EREA’s two Special Schools catering for students with disabilities such as sensory impairment, intellectual disability in the mild to moderate range, and autism.

The Flexi Schools will be established as a standalone entity with a new CEO & leadership team, based out of Brisbane. The change journey will take some 24 months to settle down, with leadership challenges and an opportunity to improve systems and processes. The longer-term journey for Flexi Schools will be to work out the broader social welfare support that can be put in place to ensure these disadvantaged young people have a fair chance in life.
