Associate Schools

Associates are schools which, although not governed by EREA, desire to keep a connection to the charism of Blessed Edmund Rice. Edmund Rice Education Australia seeks to build a relationship with Catholic schools which see their mission in association with the Edmund Rice tradition and Christian Brother heritage. Such schools may be interested in keeping their foundation story alive through enriching their understanding of and commitment to the charism of Edmund. Schools wishing to enter such a relationship will be known as Associates of Edmund Rice Education.

Schools with no historical link to the Christian Brothers but which desire a connection to the Edmund Rice charism are also welcomed to seek relationship through Association.

Associates are expected to make a commitment to core components of Identity and ensure a community understanding of the Edmund Rice charism through formation and participation in Edmund Rice ministries. They are invited to participate in formation and other programs offered by EREA and have access to publications and resources.

There are 44 Associate Schools (38 in Australia, 5 in New Zealand and 1 in the Cook Islands).

"Through Association, these schools have links into a broad network across Australia, New Zealand and internationally. We all gain tremendously from these relationships as we share ideas, resources and opportunities to grow in an understanding of Catholic identity in the Edmund Rice tradition."
